Job Opportunity: Development Manager Cambridge Science Centre

The Cambridge Science Centre is an exciting new initiative in the City of Cambridge. It is the first year-round hands-on science exhibition space in the city. Its mission is to inspire the inventive genius in everyone by presenting captivating and compelling experiences that are real and educational. It is a resource for family learning and aims to extend curriculum teaching, encourage engagement between scientific researchers and the public, and reach underserved communities in Cambridgeshire and East Anglia.

The Centre’s hands-on exhibits are designed to spark scientific inquiry and creativity in order to inspire and motivate people to achieve their full potential in the fields of science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine.

The Cambridge Science Centre initiative started in early 2011, raised £500k in major donor funding in 2012, and was opened to the public by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz on February 7th 2013.

The Centre seeks a Development Manager as it enters its next stage of growth during which it will complete its £1 million Founder fundraising campaign, develop its educational and exhibition programmes with support from trusts and industry sponsorship, and commence a major capital fundraising campaign towards the establishment of its permanent Cambridge location.

Working with the CEO and the Director of Strategy and Partnerships, the Development Manager will help to set the fundraising strategy for the Centre. S/he will be responsible for the implementation of the fundraising strategy to secure philanthropic funding for the Centre from a range of donors.

This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual and applicants should have demonstrable experience of in the areas of corporate sponsors, trusts and/or individual major donors.
