Cambridge Science Centre and 19 science centres across the UK have joined forces with the European Space Agency’s first British astronaut, Tim Peake, to provide children all over the UK with a unique opportunity to join his crew, learn about human space flight and follow life on the International Space Station. This programme is backed by the UK Space Agency.

The fascinating world of science has been opened up to visitors to Barclays Bank in Haverhill this week, where the Cambridge Science Centre’s outreach team has been in situ for the duration of the school half-term.
Cambridge Science Centre will hit Haverhill during half term and take over the high street with a science spectacular of hands-on exhibits and activities. Supported by Barclays, Amgen, Sigma Aldrich and the James Dyson Foundation, this activity is the first of it’s kind and will connect our outreach work in schools and bring it to children, families and the community

The failure to promote science, technology, engineering and maths (Stem) careers at schools is causing a drop-off of Stem-based choices throughout education, cutting students off from related careers, Chris Hayhurst of software firm Mathworks has warned. Mathworks has recently paired with the Science Museum and the Cambridge Science Centre to dissuade students from dropping science, technology, engineering and maths-based subjects, giving them more of a chance of a career in Stem industries and roles if they want one in the future.
