What I enjoy about most about the science centre is seeing people of all ages enjoying the hands-on exhibits at all sorts of different levels, just relaxing and having fun. Parents and grandparents rediscovering concepts that might be long buried, enjoying sharing their knowledge with their offspring, as well as learning some new facts that they maybe hadn’t come across before.
Having studied chemistry at university, I have worked for many years in academic scientific publishing, editing a great variety of research articles and textbooks. I had the opportunity a few years ago to teach science to teenagers who had found it difficult to learn in mainstream school. I found I really enjoyed getting back to basics and looking for interesting ways in which to introduce young people to a whole range of fun and relevant topics. I feel extremely fortunate to now find myself working in such a dynamic and innovative science centre, and being part of a team committed to furthering public engagement with science in its many forms.
