Science has always been a passion of mine. I pursued my fascination of how things work, by completing an MSc in Neuroscience at the University of Sheffield. After finishing my PGCE I enjoyed 5 very successful years in teaching, where the interaction with students and parents was always the most enjoyable part. I loved facilitating their understanding and engagement with extra-curricular activities to extend and promote their interest and curiosity. I am now fortunate enough to work at the Science Centre where creating that spark and exciting people about science is the primary focus. I also volunteer for the British Science Association and as a STEM Ambassador where I can engage the public with many aspects science in a number of different ways.
We are lucky to be at the heart of a thriving science community in Cambridge and the hands-on nature of the Centre lends itself to exploration and discovery, which are fundamental for inspiring young people. The great thing about public engagement in Science is that it has the added ‘wow’ factor and I see that every day. I love being a part of the experience; seeing people learning new things, sharing their knowledge and hopefully inspiring the future generation of scientists!
